A South Korea University has received its first order to clone a pet dog. This order comes from a wealthy California dog owner whose pit-bull terrior booger died. The dog helped the elderly woman get through a disability. The woman will go down in history as the first person to receive a commercially cloned pet. She kept a piece of the dog’s ear in a vial in the freezer and researched the process of having it commercially cloned. The woman will pay $150,000 for this clone. And the Firm in charge of the procedure is expecting 500 orders within the next few years. The CEO of the company was quoted saying “There are many people who want to clone their pet dogs in Western countries even at this high price.” Cloning and stem cell research is becoming a very controversial and profitable market in today’s world. And some say it is unethical but the truth of the matter is that it’s up to the scientists that are doing the work to decide if it is unethical or not. I wonder if this dog will have MADE IN KOREA stamped on it’s underside……..?

I personally do not agree with cloning but I must admit that it can be understandable why people desire to do it. When it comes to losing a loved one it becomes a little less judgemental in desiring to have your loved one cloned. Who would not want to keep those we care about close to us forever, ofcourse we do not want to lose our family, friends and pets. However to me it is unethical and i would never do it, a persons legacy lives on through the hearts of those who love them and the memories they left behind and i do not think that they should be replaced even if it is by their clone.
