The following is adapted from Daily Warm-ups: Biology

In his inaugural address, President Harry S Truman had this to say about science:

We must embark on a bold new program for making the benefits of our scientific knowledge and industrial progress available for the improvement of undeveloped areas.

Assume you were the speech writer or a science consultant to one of the presidential candidates.  How would you emphasize the importance of science?  How could biology help humanity?
