MicroRNAs Found A Billion Years Ago!!

Scientist have discovered something on Oct 1st dealing with microRNA.  They believe that microRNA existed in the early era of the worlds existance withing spong lineage.  Looking at the evidance, it looks like the microRNA changes very little over a narrow time frame but indeed drastically changes over a longer period of time.  This helps to show the evolution of muticellular life in animals.
This artical was very interesting to me.  I never really thoguht of how over a longer time frame, RNA would have that much of a drastic effect rather then in a narrow time frame.  It is also amazing to see that scientist can analyze and breakthoguh theories of microRNA in anialms in the earlier existance of this world.

MicroRNA (miRNA) is produced from precursor microRNA (pre-miRNA), which in turn is formed from a microRNA primary transcript (pri-miRNA).

I have really no clue about microRNA, but I do think that it is a good thing that scientists are now able to study the evolution in multicellular life in animals more accurately.
