Rocky Mountain Grey Wolves No Longer Endangered

The Midwest and northern Rocky Mountain Grey wolves are being removed from the endangered species list.  They would still be protected in Wyoming, but not in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Idaho and Montana.  Environmental groups hope that the new President, Barack Obama will reverse this decision and put the wolves back on the list.  The wolves’ biggest enemy is the ranchers who lose livestock to these predators.

When reading this article, several questions came to mind.

1-How can an animal be endangered in 1 state, but removed from others.

2-what constitutes recovery for the population?

3-If an animal is endangered, but there is a large group of people who want them gone, who is right and who should win?

4-Even if an animal is considered dangerous, should it be considered endangered and therefore protected?

This article was very interesting. I believe that this wolf was on the endangered species list at one point for being near extinction. Now, after the years that it been on the list, they are not that endangered list because they have increased there population enough to not have special care. There is a very good chance that they could go back onto the list but there does not need to be protesting over this considering they are fine for now.

Maybe they were hunted severly in that town so therfore they had to be put on the endangered list. Wolves have been persacuted for a long time now and i think it is very unfair for the wolves. people don’t get to see their good and caring side that they only show to their family pack and they think that wolves are feirce animals who only want to kill. I disagree with that opinion and i say that wolves are very important to us and the population of deer and other prey that they eat. they keep their numbers in check and make sure that they don’t grow to such numbers where the land can’t suport them them any more and many starve or start ruining homes looking for food. if we had all those deer running loose then we would have alot of health issues to deal with such as getting and illness from the deer ticks that the deer carry and rotting dead deer who died of starvation. this has been proven when wolves were hunted till their numbers had dropped severly and the deer population grew out of hand and people had finally stopped hunting wolves because they saw how it effected the other animals. i think that we should start changing some of our habits to improve the life of the wolves and in doing so they improve their lives as well and have fewer encounters with wolves and protect their livestock at the same time without having to kill anything.
