Research at the University of Buffalo has been investigating the structure of the carbohydrates in each cell.  They have discovered a new strategy to upset the glycome so that new identities and targets will develop in the molecules.  This could help scientists in the future with fighting inflammatory diseases.

I previously had no idea about anything in this area of research.  The important part of this research is based on the new understanding and approach to they carbohydrate structure.  With new developments in this area it could also be useful in helping cardiovascular disease.  This was another thing that I wasn’t familiar with, but this is important research.

1. How far is The University of Buffalo into this research?

2. What are gycomes and what is their purpose to the cell?

This is a great breakthrough! Many times we have a disease find us, and then we spend millions of dollars are trying to find a cure. This time though, we’ll have the cure before it happens! Having research on anything and everything is required so you’ll be safe, because it’s better safe then sorry.
